Seeker Sensitive Leaves Us
Lost & Longing

“My people have committed two sins:

They have forsaken me, the spring of living water,

and have dug their own cisterns,

broken cisterns that cannot hold water."

Jeremiah 2:13

Charles Spurgeon titled one of his great sermons,

"Feeding Sheep or Amusing Goats?"

In it, Spurgeon preached these words;

“An evil is in the professed camp of the Lord,

so gross in its impudence,

that the most short-sighted can hardly fail

to notice it during the past few years.

It has developed at an abnormal rate, even for evil.

It has worked like leaven until the whole lump ferments.

The devil has seldom done a cleverer thing than hinting to the church

that part of their mission is to provide entertainment for the people,

with a view to winning them.”

Most of the modern Western Church

has attempted to reach the masses by worldly means.

In trying to add numbers and programs by entertainment,

vain philosophy, or even pseudo spiritual encounters,

the church has diluted and polluted the gospel.

In so doing, the church has made the power of God impotent

and unable to effectually change and transform lives.

"and my message and my preaching

were not in persuasive words of wisdom,

but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men,

but on the power of God."

1 Corinthians 2:4-5

When you attract a person by feeding the flesh,

you must continually feed the flesh in order to retain them.

"But a natural person

does not accept the things of the Spirit of God,

for they are foolishness to him;

and he cannot understand them,

because they are spiritually discerned."

1 Corinthians 2:14

Many who are genuinely seeking

an intimate relationship with God

encounter a lifeless church.

They are often left more distraught and confused

than if they had never engaged with the church to begin with.

This begs the question...

Where Does One Go Who Longs For The Deeper Things Of God?

“Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!

Isaiah 55:1
